Residential Concrete Contractor in Fresno, CA
Concrete driveways and flatwork across Fresno, Clovis and Madera — planned around where your water actually goes.
You're in the right place if…
- You're a Fresno-area homeowner tired of looking at a cracked, settling driveway.
- You want a patio or RV pad that actually drains away from your house.
- You want the owner on-site reading your lot himself — and a written plan before anything is poured.
- We're probably not your fit if you need a weekday-only schedule — we work by appointment, Friday through Sunday.
- Or if you're shopping purely for the lowest number. We'll explain every line, but we won't skip the drainage work to win a bid.
- Or if the project is pavers, turf or fencing — we stay focused on concrete flatwork.
The problem
The mistake you can't see on pour day.
A new driveway looks perfect the day it's poured. The finish is clean, the lines are straight, everyone's happy — and if the slope is wrong, nothing about that day shows it. You can't see a drainage mistake when the sun is out.
The real inspection happens during the first storm. If the contractor didn't read your lot before pouring, the water runs back toward the foundation, or stands in a low spot working on the base underneath. That's how a driveway that looked right becomes a settling slab, a widening crack, and a repair bill nobody budgeted for.
It's not usually a bad contractor. It's a habit — pouring the same slab on every lot and hoping the water sorts itself out. On Fresno ground, it doesn't.

What we pour
All services
Concrete Driveways
Our flagship work — a driveway that sheds water away from your house, planned on paper before it's poured.

Patios & Pool Decks
Outdoor living surfaces that fall away from the foundation and stay safe under wet bare feet.

Walkways, Sidewalks & RV Pads
Small pours done with full-size planning — from front walks to pads specced for the heaviest rig you'll park.

Resurfacing, Tear-Out & Replacement
An honest diagnosis first: resurface what's sound, replace what's failed, and fix the cause underneath.
The solution
The Ground-First Pour
Four steps, in an order that never changes. The ground gets read before a number exists, and the plan goes on paper before the truck is ordered.
Walk & Read
Jose walks your lot with you and reads the slope — before any number exists.
Plan the Slope
You get the slope-and-drainage plan in writing, built for your lot, before the pour.
Pour It Right
Formed, poured and finished to the plan.
Walk It With You
A final walk-around together before the job is called done.

What's under your lot
Fresno ground isn't one thing.
Much of the Fresno–Clovis area sits on San Joaquin soil — a loam or sandy loam surface over a cemented hardpan, called a duripan, about two to three feet down. Water can't pass through that layer. Whatever lands on the lot has to leave across the surface, and USDA rates runoff on this ground medium to very high.
Other neighborhoods sit on nearly pure sand and drain almost instantly. Two lots a few streets apart can need genuinely different slope plans — which is exactly why we read yours instead of pouring the same slab everywhere.
~24–36 IN: cemented duripan — impermeable
RUNOFF: medium → very high
What to expect — stated plainly.
Timeline
Most flatwork jobs run a few working days on site, plus cure time before use. We work by appointment, Friday through Sunday — your written scope maps the exact schedule before anything starts.
What we need from you
Access to the work area, cars moved on work days, sprinklers off near the pour, and your sign-off on the slope plan before the truck is ordered.
Communication
You get photos through your job as work progresses, on the weekend schedule we actually keep. Questions go to Jose — the person doing the work is the person who answers.
Every job includes
- A free on-site lot walk with Jose before any number exists
- A written scope with the slope-and-drainage plan for your lot
- Base preparation matched to your ground, not a template
- Forming checked against the written plan before the pour
- Photos through your job
- A final walk-around together before the job is called done
Curious what moves the price? The cost drivers are public.
The three questions everyone asks.
“How do I know it'll drain right?”
Because you'll hold the plan before we pour. The slope-and-drainage plan is written into your scope — this surface falls this way, the water ends here — and the forms are checked against it before the truck arrives. The first storm is a test you have the answer sheet for.
“What if the crew disappears mid-job?”
Communion is owner-run. The person who walked your lot, wrote your scope, and answers your calls is the person on your job. Your schedule is in writing before work starts, and photos through the job mean silence never has to be interpreted.
“Can I see what's happening?”
Yes — photos through your job as the work progresses, and a final walk-around together before we call it done. If something on the ground doesn't match the paper, that's a conversation we have standing on your driveway, not one you chase by voicemail.

The owner
Jose reads the lot himself.
Communion Concrete is owner-run. When you call, you talk to Jose. When the lot gets walked, Jose walks it. He won't pour without a plan for the water — that's not a slogan, it's the reason the estimate is done standing on your ground instead of over the phone.
